Duluth-Superior Pride Festival
As in years past, Jean will have a history display at the Duluth-Superior Pride festival on Labor Day weekend. In addition, he will host a special display at Mayor Herb Bergson’s reception on Thursday, September 1 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Depot, in downtown Duluth. Mayor Bergson’s invitation to the community follows…
Dear friends,For the second year in a row, Duluth has opened its doors to you. If you haven’t blessed us with your presence yet, I sure wish you would consider doing so this year. It doesn’t do much good to have a welcoming city and a welcoming mayor if you don’t take us up on the offer.
This year, I will be hosting a mayor’s reception in the historic depot in downtown Duluth. There will be music, food and drink. There will be a chance for you to get acquainted with residents of Duluth and learn more about the area. We hope you will attend the reception from 5:00 until 7:00 PM and then join me for a walk around the entertainment district to enjoy music and comradery.
We are also moving the Pride Festival to Bayfront Park. This move was at my suggestion. I want you to know we are proud to have you as visitors and friends. The Bayfront Park is as nice a venue as you are going to find anywhere in the country! I hope for a record turnout for your event!
We are also going to have a medallion hunt and a scavenger hunt this year. I have been busy gathering prizes for both events. You are going to have a chance to win Duluth getaway packages and a whole lot more.
The bottom line to all this is….I want you to know you are welcome here. Yes, I’ve taken some criticism for the changes…..but all those criticisms mean a lot less if you turn out in masses and respond to our “red carpet” by enjoying a full weekend in Duluth. Please join us starting on Thursday, September 1 for the mayor’s reception.
